Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy, often simply referred to as therapy or counseling, is a form of mental health treatment where an individual works one-on-one with a trained provider.

I am dedicated to assisting adolescents and adults in addressing their psychological and emotional concerns. Through personalized interventions and evidence-based techniques, I create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My goal is to help you gain valuable insights, develop effective coping strategies, enhance your overall mental and emotional well-being, and guide you on your path to a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy, also known as couples counseling or marriage therapy, is a form of psychotherapy specifically designed to help couples address and resolve conflicts, improve communication, and enhance their overall relationship. It involves a trained provider who works with both partners simultaneously to explore and work through issues within the relationship.

In my work with couples, I utilize Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). EFT is a structured and evidence-based approach to couples counseling that emphasizes the importance of emotions in relationships. EFT was developed by Dr. Susan Johnson in the 1980s, and has since gained widespread recognition for its ability to help couples improve their bonds, resolve conflicts, and create healthier, more secure relationships.

Specializations

  • Emerging Adulthood

Emerging adulthood typically spans from the late teens to mid-20s and is marked by significant life transitions and identity exploration. Therapy during this phase provides essential support by helping individuals navigate these transitions, make informed decisions, and manage mental health related challenges. It offers a safe space to explore identity, build resilience, enhance relationships, and develop healthy coping strategies, empowering emerging adults to forge a path toward a fulfilling adult life.

  • Reproductive Mental Health

Reproductive mental health encompasses a wide range of emotional and psychological considerations related to family planning, pregnancy, and postpartum experiences. It addresses not only the emotional well-being of expectant and new mothers but also the mental health aspects of fertility-related issues. Therapy can play a pivotal role in reproductive mental health by providing a safe and supportive space for individuals to address fertility-related stress, cope with pregnancy-related emotional challenges, and navigate the transitions into parenthood. Moreover, it is essential to recognize and address disparities in reproductive mental health, such as the disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality among Black women, highlighting the urgent need for culturally competent and equitable care in this vital aspect of women's health.
